Maytag Neptune Washing Machine # MAH5500BWW

In 1977 we bought our first new appliance-a maytag washer. After 29 years, 3 kids and many loads later we retired it and replaced it with a new Maytag matching washer and dryer.

In hind sight we wish we had kept it. We thought we had bought a quality product. Boy were we wrong! Maytag quality is no more!! After three and half years the machine starting making loud noises on the spin cycle.

When we contacted our store the repair man said it was the spinner assembly a well known problem with the model. Replacement parts would be about $500 plus $200 labour plus taxes of course.

Not satisfaction from Maytag. We offered to pay the labour if they would replace the (defective) parts. No go. It took weeks of frustrating phone calls to them. Did get through twice and was told their computers were down. Their customer service line is a voice mail hell.

I guess now that maytag is part of Whirlpool quality and customer service no longer exist.
We are now faced with replacing our machine and unfortunately we bought the matching dryer so we will have a mismatched set.

We will never purchase Maytag again, they do not stand behind their products at all!!
