Maytag Pair Washer and Dryer living up to your expectations

We owned our last front loading washer and dryer for one year, when the repair people said the washer could not be repaired. That was a Westinghouse pair.
The pair before that lasted for three or four years. We went to the local independent appliance dealer to shop for a replacement pair. I saw the Maytag Neptune pair.
My husband sold appliances, and front loading washers are all that he will consider. He is completely sold on the front loading washers using less water and soap.
This was a front loader with high capacity for my large bed spreads and quilts. This was it. The washer ran for about a year to the day the warranty expired and then the pump went out.
The repair service was slow and required several days to get a repairman to the house. Next repair, when the unit filled, water would pour out of the machine onto the floor.
The repairman was called and came to repair the washer. He washed out the soap, bleach, softener dispenser and left. The washer continued to leak just as badly as before the repairman came.
We again called the dealer's repairman and made another appointment. This time when he came out he pulled out the dispenser unit and built it up with caulk, and it has not leaked since.
The last thing that broke was the controller that runs the cycles. The washer would not advance and would not spin out at all. That was repaired in one trip from the repairman.
A bearing is currently going bad on the washer. This Maytag pair is about eight years old. It has met my expectations.
The Maytag pair was about three times the price of the Westinghouse pair, but it has already outlasted two of those machines.
