WHIRLPOOL "Ultimate Care" Heavy Duty Super Capacity PLUS

When I moved into the studio that I currently rent, it came with a washer and dryer. At first, I was hesitant to use a pre-owned (probably highly abused) washing machine, but after I used it, I never looked back. I don't have the model number, but here is the information that I can find. WHIRLPOOL "Ultimate Care" Heavy Duty Super Capacity PLUS. Supreme 8 cycle 2 Speed Motor. That just about sums it up.

I can put really, really large items in this washer, like sleeping bags and duvets. Occasionally, it will unbalance, but that is quite rare, and causes no complications except for that loud banging that comes with an unbalanced machine.

The machine's settings go from the heaviest "superwash" all the way down to 'delicates' and 'handwashables'. I can't explain how easy this machine makes doing laundry. I have only ever had one problem with it, and that was when I overloaded it, and the fill up water started to overflow from the tub. It was completely my fault for not following the load instructions properly, and now that I know what caused the very small leak, it has never happened again.

This washer was approx. 2 yrs old before I began using it, and I've been using it for 3 years - almost daily, as I run a wardrobe rental house. It runs quietly enough that I can do loads of laundry and still conduct business in house or on the phone.

It has economical settings as well as super wash settings, so just about anything can be washed for anybody in this machine. I would recommend this machine to anyone who was looking to buy. It seems well made, I've never needed it serviced, and I use it probably more than a normal household would. (I bring in my laundry from home because I prefer this machine to the one I have at home!)

Great Machine NEW
by: Jaime Rodriguez

This machine is a great find...if you happen to run across a used one, dont even hesitate to snap it up!! Well worth any repairs it may or not need...We have had ours for 14 years...just had to replace the switch that triggers the wash to come on when you close the lid...other than that great machine..will never buy anything else.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II
by: Anonymous

As the previous writer stated, the dual agitator quit working. I got 20 years out of my old Whirlpool washer and maybe 7 years out of the newer model.

Worst Purchase Ever
by: Anonymous

We purchased the Ultimate II Gold Series Heavy Duty Super Capacity Plus washer seven years ago. Shortly after purchase the timer would not advance thus wash cycles did not work. Thank God we didn't have to pay one penny for that repair as the machine was virtually new. Then four and a half years ago the washer's clutch seized up. The repair man said the loads were over sized causing the problem. The machine is suppose to wash large items eg. comforters but he advised not to. Price tag for repair with part warranty over $300.00 was charged for labor and service call. The machine's dual action agitator has twice been repaired. Clothes often are stained from fabric softner, ripped due to entanglement around agitator and clothes often have soap globs after different wash cycles on them. The machine now again requires major repair and parts. The transmission has seized up and the washer will not work on the spin cycle. The dual agitator again is not working correctly. We had a Whirlpool washer and dryer for over 30yrs. We purchased this machine believing it had the reliability and dependability as our old one. I would not recommend owning this product to anyone. I wouldn't even own stock in the company for selling such a CHEAPLY MADE product. Now seeking to buy a different brand entirely.

Not a Maytag!
by: Terry

I owned my Maytag Heavy duty washer for twenty years. The machine finally rusted out so bad that the basket sat cockeyed and would not spin out anymore. LOVED that machine!
Needless to say we bought a "Trade in" two year old Whirlpool Ultimate Care II for about $275.00 from a fairly reputable small town "Mom & Pop" appliance store. I have been really disappointed since I was so spoiled with my "No Frills - No Bells & Whistles" machine. 1st - When I opened the cover to add the clothes after it has already started the wash cycle, the water drains out. 2nd - Following the rinse cycle, while it is spinning, water sprays onto the clothes, totally defeating the purpose of fabric softener in the rinse cycle. 3rd - When I use the 2nd rinse, it fills with water, agitates about three times then drains and spins. Totally defeats the purpose of fabric softener again!! And then there is the issue of the banging when it goes into the spin cycle if I wash more than 6 bath towels or 4-5 pairs of blue jeans. (My Maytag would handle 12 bath towels and never work up a sweat!)
So do I own a lemon or is this normal operation for this machine???

Is mine the same washing machine.
by: Ann Hull

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Heavy Duty Super Capacity Plus with Quiet Wash. Øn the back it has Part No. 3953166 White. The biggest problem I have is that I cannot use the normal wash cycle. It has a "high Spin" that makes the washer just about dance around causing a lot of problems, but when I put it on the other 3 cycles with a "low Spin" there is no problem. Also because it says "Quiet Wash" I really wonder because it makes a lot of noise! Is this normal? I got this washer recently from someone and do not know for sure how old it is though I suppose about 5 or 6 years. It is also an 8 cycle 2 speed as well. Any comments on how to be able to use the normal cycle without the thing going crazy. Oh, yes I have it leveled and it makes no difference.
