Whirlpool Washer

We own two Whirlpool washers; one in our primary residence and one in our summer home. Both are very reliable and efficient, but the Whirlpool Duet front load model GEW925OPW1 is the one we prefer.
This model uses less water but can handle large, heavy loads just like our older model. We like the controls too. It has settings for Whites, Heavy Duty, Normal, Delicate and Hand Washables so it is very versatile. The status of the wash cycle is indicated by lights as is the time remaining. You can select “more” or “less” for soil level to get at the really tough dirt. The unit has water temperature selections as does our other, older unit. This one though also allows you to select the spin cycle speed. The detergent compartment is convenient as well. You should only use a HE (high efficiency) detergent which is better for the environment. The non-HE will produce too many suds. The detergent compartment also contains sections for bleach and fabric softener. Both powdered and liquid detergents can be used but liquid is much more convenient. This compartment ensures the detergent, etc. is added at the correct time of the cycle. Detergent should go in one the clothes are submerged in water.
With our older unit, you have to come back and open the top to do that. As far as loads, the largest that are recommended would be 10 bath towels +10 hand towels +14 washcloths as an example.
The only operational issue to be careful of with this front load unit is when you need to interrupt a cycle. There is a stop/cancel button to stop the cycle, but you need to give the washer 30 seconds to lower the water level before opening the door or you’ll get water flowing out of the washer and onto the floor.
